Jahan Darvish (Echalty) is a 17 year old hip-hop inspired artist
who is currently a
junior in high school. I was born in the Maryland/Washington D.C. area, but
moved
to the Miami area of Florida before I hit middle school. I completed my entire
middle school years in Florida, first getting into music around the eighth
grade.

I’m impressed. That’s the first thing that comes to mind after watching this
pair of
videos from D.C.-based Echalty that I stumbled across on Twitter. Dude knows his
history, whether it’s referencing
George Washington (“with designer on my dick I
just crossed the Delaware”) or producing a 90s New York-esque beat to accompany
his “Cold Sweat” flow. Echalty’s only
16 though, which puts him in company with
a number of talented East Coast rappers drawing inspiration from an era of hip hop
before their time.
